Smart Growth
All cities need some growth to provide housing for new residents and increase available funds for city operations, but excessive growth without adequate infrastructure to support it can lead to clogged roads, backed up intersections and water shortages which would reduce the quality of life that most residents of Paso Robles have come to enjoy. New growth should be done in areas that won’t negatively impact already heavily traveled areas like the Niblick/Creston corridor in District 2.
Improve Roads
Paso Robles has made good progress in the past year fixing the roads in certain areas that were in poor condition, most notably Creston Road and Golden Hill Road. Niblick Rd bisects District 2 and it is heavily traveled and has deteriorated significantly in the last few years. Fixing that road would be a infrastructure priority for me.
Fiscal Responsibility
The Paso Robles City Council has recently been through a period of turmoil as the District 2 City Council member appointed by the City Council in 2018 was involved in a harassment lawsuit with the City Manager that ended up costing the city $640,000 in legal fees. If elected, I pledge to work diligently but also respectfully with fellow City Council members and all city employees so that your tax dollars go to improving city infrastructure and services instead of paying lawyers.
Preserve Open Space
District 2 has very little acreage set aside as Public Space. One of the areas that is most frequently used by local residents is the Montebello Oaks meadows located off Montebello Oaks Dr. This is not officially dedicated open space and consequently could be developed at a future time. Maintaining this beautiful area as open space for use by the local residents would be one of my key priorities as your District 2 representative.
